BRITISH SHORTS: WORKSHOP

UK 2018 | 48h Film Workshop | R: John Digance

"Crossing Borders" – Festival Workshop & 48 Hour Film Project

The workshop will be run by film teachers Dave Green and John Digance who have run successful academic and creative courses in the University and Community Ed. sectors in Britain, Sweden, Spain, Russia and China.

Dave Green and John Digence: "This year’s workshop will centre on the idea of Crossing Borders. As an antidote to Trump in the US and the UK vote to leave the EU this is your opportunity to make a film challenging isolation and fear. In the open and cosmopolitan city of Berlin we would like to show there is some hope in the world by screening both existing films and your new films about crossing boundaries and barriers, not erecting them. Explore through sound and image the theme of Crossing Borders. Students will watch and discuss short British Experimental Films that are related to the workshop topic – and make, in a day, their own films about crossing borders in Berlin – borders that may be geographical, psychological, physical, abstract, sexual or any you can imagine decide to cross."

The workshop will be taught in English. You will need own access to camera and editing. We are though more interested in ideas than technology so domestic equipment is fine. The workshop will be run by film teachers Dave Green and John Digance who have run successful academic and creative courses in the University and Community Ed. sectors in Britain, Sweden, Spain, Russia and China.

The Workshop is for free. All events, meetings and screenings as part of the workshop will be in English. Participants will have to provide their own equipment and editing facilities.

Workshop dates Sat 19.1., 12:00–17:00 at Sputnik Kino: Introduction, lectures and film screenings

Sat 19.1.–Mon 21.1.: Lectures and work on your movies

Mon 21.1., 19:30 at Sputnik Kino: Screening of the workshop movies (admisssion free)
